Brian Gallagher
Brian Gallagher is President, Symmetrix and Virtualization Product Group within EMC Information Infrastructure Products. With 2009 revenues of $14 billion and approximately 43,000 employees, EMC is the world's leading developer and provider of information infrastructure technology and solutions that enable organizations of all sizes to transform the way they compete and create value from their information.
Gallagher leads the Symmetrix and Virtualization Product Group, which is responsible for the architecture, design, development, and support of all Symmetrix and storage virtualization platforms and software applications. EMC Symmetrix is the market-leading, high-end storage array, and has held that position for well more than a decade. Gallagher oversaw the development of the EMC Virtual Matrix Architecture and the EMC V-Max system, EMC’s most significant and advanced new storage architecture since the company first introduced the Symmetrix 19 years ago and created the high-end storage industry. He reports directly to Pat Gelsinger, President, EMC Information Infrastructure Products.
Immediately prior to this role, Gallagher lead the Symmetrix Product Group, with responsibility for the hardware, software, quality assurance, and e-Lab organizations, including the development of mainframe and open systems host applications. He was named Vice President, Symmetrix Hardware Engineering in 1997 and promoted to Senior Vice President in 2000. Gallagher has been with EMC for more than 25 years and has been designing and developing advanced information storage products for even longer. Prior to joining EMC in 1985, he developed disk and tape storage products for Wang Laboratories’ VS Systems.
Gallagher received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University in 1982 and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1990. He holds 13 U.S. patents and has 10 patents pending.
Louis de Kock
Louis de Kock leads the South African sales team for Varonis Systems. Having held strategic business roles throughout his career, plus 12 years experience in the information security industry, Louis is passionate about information/data security and governance and assisting customers in different industry sectors to accomplish their goals.
Prior to joining Varonis, Louis held roles in sales, consulting, product and account management on partner, distribution and vendor levels. Louis is focused on IT security, data availability and archiving.
Louis is passionate about driving awareness around data governance and that complying to governance policies is not as complicated as sometimes perceived, but achievable.
Rene Raeber
Datacenter Architect, Datacenter Consulting & Central Architecture, Emerging Markets Cisco
Rene Raeber is a Datacenter Technical Architect in the Central Consulting Team, working on the Theater level for the Emerging Markets region at Cisco. This region covers more than 130 countries in Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia/CIS, the Middle East and Africa. The Emerging Markets region represents a $4 billion business for Cisco.
Rene’s function covers Datacenter Strategic Accounts and Key Project support in the Commercial, Enterprise, Public Sector and Service Provider market segments. In addition, Rene is responsible for a gateway function towards the Datacenter Business Unit divisions, in order to ensure that Cisco’s customer requirements are represented and fulfilled in product development.
His span of responsibility also covers internal field engineering education, partner technical readiness, and representation of Cisco’s Datacenter technologies in key marketing initiatives; technical seminars, press and thought leadership writing datacenter publications.
Additionally, Rene is an official and voting IEEE member, actively representing Cisco, and develops new Datacenter standards, such as IEEE-802.1BR (Virtual Bridge port Extension).
Rene is one of the Key Datacenter Architects in Cisco, having been recognized for excellence awards on several occasions.
Rene recently received the Worldwide Quarterly Excellence Award, which recognizes him as the Architect of the Quarter, where he is memorized on the ‘System Engineer Wall of Fame’ within Cisco.
Rene has been exposed to various technical and managerial roles within Cisco. He built and managed the Swiss Technical Organization, in his role of Regional Sales Manager for Business Development in Advanced Technologies and was also the Technical Advisor for the Swiss General Manager.
Rene has more than 20 years experience in the Datacenter and telecommunications industry. He joined Cisco more than fifteen years ago coming from a Financial Customer environment, where he was responsible for the IBM Mainframe SNA and Storage Business. He was also responsible for some of the very first SNA over TCP/IP implementations within the Enterprise environments.
Rene did study IT Engineering, and owns a Masters Degree in Business IT Security from HSW University in Lucerne. He is a Security Auditor for BS7799-2, ISO 17799 Information Security.
